Individual Medley feature

My beloved friends at Individual Medley, a lifestyle store located just minutes from the studio, spent the afternoon with me to print a run of their hand-carved Thank You card. They watched  the process of letterpress printing from start to finish from cutting paper,  press setup,  inking and proofing.  The block was carved by Annika Bushman exclusively for IM and I was asked to see if it was at all possible to print with it on the press. Of course it will work! It's type high at .918 (nerdy printer talk).

Nuhr Studio x Presshaus LA mini video

It's nerve racking to print in front of the designer and a camera. Cue the sweaty palms and nervous giggles.

Andrea of Nuhr Studio first approached me about printing her business cards, and along the way it morphed into this video of documenting the process of letterpress printing her cards in this short clip she shot and edited. She captured beautifully the start of the process with graphic designer, Maria of Grafikisto, from selecting the paper, mixing the ink, printing on the press and cutting. They made the day incredibly easy and fun so that moments in my nerves calmed and the anxiety subsided, and then it felt like a hang out with two fellow creative ladies.

The studio has come an incredibly long way since the first video of Presshaus LA made two years ago. Since then, we added two more presses making the total count of three, filled the studio with more furniture, learned a ton more about printing and even hired some help.
ooking back, it's been quite a journey.

Thank you for your time and talent Andrea!! Check out more of her videos (the surfboard and bakery videos are my favorite) on her website.

It's up and posted!
I can't tell you enough how excited I am about this feature!

Emma approached me about a Lovely Lady spot shortly after I printed our first project together. (Check out her business cards here)  Soon after, it turned into a studio tour complete with all the construction mayhem. My initial reaction: "A video? At my place? But there are people hammering and making all kinds of noise upstairs." Somehow, the story folded in all together- the house, my dog , the press and my story.

Wade Koch  pulled out all the stops with his camera and endured hours of editing to get this just right. His eye and his storytelling through a lens is amazing.

Thank you Emma Robertson for making this happen!! And all this time you were just down the same street!
